We are a team of undergraduate and graduate students. Our mission is to help K-12 students who cannot afford or do not have access to academic support. We are working towards this goal by providing free one-one-one tutoring sessions with experienced tutors.
Meet Our Calgary Team
Outreach Coordinator
Melia is working on her Master’s of Epidemiology at McGill University. She is a graduate of the University of Calgary’s Bachelor of Health Science Program with a major in Biomedical Sciences (Honours). Outside of school, Melia works as a private tutor. She enjoys art projects, movies, and traveling.
Volunteer Coordinator
Sara is an MSc student in the Community Health Sciences program with a sub-specialty of Health Services Research at the University of Calgary. Her Master’s thesis is on psychosocial pediatric oncology, working with survivors of childhood cancer. Sara received her BSc in Cellular Molecular and Microbial Biology at the University of Calgary. Outside of school, Sara enjoys rock climbing, playing the cello, and bullet journaling.
Operations Coordinator
Michael is an MSc candidate in Epidemiology at the University of Calgary. In 2020 he graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science, majoring in Biomedical Sciences (Honours). Outside of school, Michael has a passion for music and is a Jazz pianist. He has played at multiple venues and events around Calgary including President Elizabeth Cannon’s retirement dinner, President McCauley’s inauguration dinner, and convocation week.
Treasurer
Christian is a third year undergraduate student at the University of Calgary. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce. Christian has experience navigating exchange relations and promoting expansion for various University of Calgary clubs. Outside of school, Christian enjoys sports, reading, and spending time with his two dogs.
Social Media Coordinator
Meet Maria, our Social Media Coordinator! Maria is a fourth year undergraduate student at the University of Calgary. She is working towards a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Health Physiology. One of her main interests is art, and she is ready to bring as much creativity as possible to this account! Outside of school, Maria works as a tutor and also enjoys painting, fitness, and spending time with friends.
Meet our Edmonton Team
President
Justin is currently a second year BSc student majoring in Biological Sciences at the University of Alberta and is the President of Connect Tutoring Edmonton. He is doing clinical research in antibody therapy for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Outside of school, Justin was an avid air cadet in Edmonton and continues to teach cadets about aviation and flying. Justin enjoys flying and playing chess.
Vice President Finance
Marko is a second year BSc student majoring in Biological Sciences at the University of Alberta. He is the Vice President Finance for Connect Tutoring Edmonton, as well as the UAlberta Quizbowl Club. Outside of school, Marko enjoys skiing, reading, and playing piano and trumpet.
Co-Vice President of Recruitment and Outreach
Sophie is a second year student at the University of Alberta, majoring in Chemistry with a minor in Arts and Design. She is one of the Co-Vice President’s of Recruitment and Outreach of Connect Tutoring Edmonton. Aside from school, she is passionate about art, is part of UAlberta’s Art Club and The Gateway, and enjoys snowboarding during winter.

Edward is a second year Mechanical engineering student at the University of Alberta and currently a Co-Vice President of Recruitment and Outreach for Connect Tutoring Edmonton. Currently the President of a newly reformed UAlberta Quizbowl Club, he enjoys biking, casual reading, and online chess.
Vice President Internal
Amy is currently a second-year BSc student at the University of Alberta pursuing a major in Biological Sciences and a minor in Psychology. She is the Vice President Internal for Connect Tutoring Edmonton, an Outreach Representative for RootUP, and an Ambassador for IgNITE Medical Case Competitions. Apart from school, Amy enjoys playing the piano and oil painting. During the winter, she works as a dual certified Skiing and Snowboarding Instructor.
Vice President of Marketing
Felicia is a second year University of Alberta student, currently studying Honours Physiology. She serves as the Vice President of Marketing for Connect Tutoring Edmonton and is the social media coordinator for RootUP. Outside of school, Felicia enjoys participating in various activities such as handball and volleyball. She also helps out part-time at a Physiotherapy clinic.
